Do you have experience of multi-agency emergency response?
Your experience could help improve understanding of interoperability, crisis communication and public engagement.
We are inviting practitioners with relevant experience of multi-agency emergency response, crisis communication or incident management to consider taking part in a confidential research interview for an MSc study at the University of Portsmouth.
Who am I looking to speak to?
You may be eligible if you have experience of working in a multi-agency environment during emergency response, or relevant experience in crisis communication or incident management.
You do not need to decide immediately whether you wish to participate. You are welcome to make an initial enquiry or ask whether your experience may be relevant. Contacting the researcher does not commit you to taking part.
What would taking part involve?
Participation involves one semi-structured interview lasting approximately 45–60 minutes. The interview may take place in person or through a secure online platform such as Microsoft Teams.
With your permission, the interview will be audio recorded so that it can be transcribed for analysis.
The discussion will cover experiences of multi-agency working, communication during incidents, coordination of public messaging and public engagement. You will not be asked to disclose sensitive, confidential or operationally restricted information.
Is participation voluntary and confidential?
Yes. Participation is entirely voluntary. You may decline to answer any question, pause the interview or stop it at any time.
You may request withdrawal of your data up to 14 calendar days after the interview. After that point, the information may have been anonymised and incorporated into the analysis, meaning that it may no longer be possible to identify and remove an individual participant’s contribution.
Your identity will remain confidential, your responses will be anonymised and no names or identifying details will appear in the dissertation or associated outputs. Data will be stored securely and handled in accordance with University policy and data-protection requirements.
